The hospitality industry is fast evolving. Approximately 4.5m people now work within its remit, and with the British Hospitality Association recording 23.7% of its workforce EU migrants, there’s no doubt that the industry faces numerous challenges going forward. Yet as disruptive service models and the food-to-go boom threaten the traditional imprint of the sector, the need for strong brands and pioneering design has never been more apparent.

The Restaurant and Bar Design Show is the UK’s largest event catering to contemporary interior design across the restaurant and bar space. Held at London’s ExCel centre on 26 and 27 September, the event welcomes 3,000 restaurant, bar and café owners, showcasing 50 expert speakers and 120 international suppliers. The event will focus directly on a comprehensive breakdown of design within the restaurant and bar context, incorporating various sponsored zones and diverse keynote discussions.

Featuring as many as 80 in-depth seminars, the show seeks to offer visitors an opportunity to move beyond the customer experience, with panel discussions covering brand communications, wayfinding and identity over the two-day expo. Yet although the show places design at its core, much of its content is centred around business strategy, from omni-channel marketing to measurable ROI. Similarly, the 2017 Transform Awards Europe saw a number of hospitality and leisure projects succeed in categories such as 'Best use of a visual property' and 'Best use of packaging.'

Ben Henbest, event director, says, “Due to the event's sheer popularity, this year's show will provide ambitious individuals with sought-after ideas and the inspiration they need to help them start up a business or reinvent their establishment. Across two days, the show will deliver an abundance of information, and open its doors to 3,000 industry professionals seeking the latest trends and developments in the industry. We've also pulled together some of the most influential and creative minds in the design industry to share their knowledge, vision and advice to help food and drink business owners revamp the look of their establishment.”
