Indigenous artist creates the FIBA Basketball Women’s World 2022 logo

TT 25 May FIBA

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA), an association of national organizations that governs international competition in basketball, worked with ad agency Campfire X to discover an emerging indigenous artist, Amarlie ‘Marlii’ Biscoe, to develop the Women’s World Cup 2022 logo.

Through its network,, Campfire X found Biscoe who, at the age of 14, created the logo for the Women’s World Cup 2022 utilizing the dot art of the central Aboriginal people, a particular genre of art which has been handed down over generations.  The logo features the newly launched FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup trophy and vibrant, eye catching colours like azure and purple.

Campfire X’s aim is to change and educate a different way of working for the biggest brands to the smallest by instilling inclusion in the traditional advertising structure and allowing everyone to have a voice.

“I think the world is coming to the realisation that things have been broken for a while now and that we have to find a better way of working together. The culture and way Indigenous people work together is something that I believe can add much value -- we all share this land, this planet. I feel it’s time we shared our culture, beliefs and systems and when we do that we will be in a much better place,” says Peter Kirk, an indigenous Australian and founder of Campfire X.
