Pentawards announce 2021 shortlist
Global design packaging awards, the Pentawards, have revealed its 2021 shortlist. The awards received over 2,000 entries across eight categories, including the two newly launched, ‘Sustainable Design’ and ‘Branding & Consumer' categories.
Among the top ten contributing countries are China, Japan, Russia, UK and US. The subcategories of ‘spirits’ and ‘tea & coffee’ saw some of the highest number of entries this year, along with Student Concepts, up 10% from 2020.
“After such a difficult and challenging year for so many people, we have truly been inspired by the vast array of creativity and innovation we’ve seen from designers, agencies and brands around the world. This year’s shortlist represents the very best in global packaging design talent right now and is a testament to the resilience of creativity, design and the packaging industry to achieve incredible things, even in difficult times,” says Adam Ryan, head of Pentawards.
The Diamond – Best of Show and Platinum awards, alongside the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, will be announced at the Gala Ceremony in September.
51 entries have been shortlisted in the new ‘Sustainable Design’ category, by a specialist jury panel made up of five experts working across sustainable packaging design. The five ‘Sustainable Design’ jury members join the wider Pentawards jury panel of 40 design experts from over 20 countries.
