DLMDD adds classical soundtrack to TFL’s Elizabeth Line

DLMDD Elizabeth Line

The specialist sonic branding agency, working with the world-renowned Chineke! Orchestra, brought the sound of Strauss’ instantly recognisable Blue Danube to London’s newest railway, the Elizabeth Line.

London-based DLMDD turned to the Chineke! Foundation when searching for a youth and community-based orchestra to perform the iconic soundtrack. Founded by principal bassist and professor at the Royal Academy of Music Chi-chi Nwanoku MBE OBE CBE, Chineke! is comprised of majority black, Asian and ethnically diverse musicians.

Nwanoku says, “It was thrilling for the Chineke! Orchestra to record the soundtrack for the launch of the new TfL Elizabeth Line. Our message to champion change and celebrate diversity in classical music embodies the incredibly rich cross-section of every culture in London, which this new line will serve."

DLMDD worked with integrated communications agency VCCP on the campaign that was titled ‘Bringing more of London together’. With Woolwich Station forming part of the Elizabeth Line, the orchestra rehearsed and recorded the soundtrack a stone’s throw away at the brand-new Woolwich Works creative landmark district.

Greg Moore, co-founder of DLMDD, adds, “Chineke! was the perfect orchestra to soundtrack the Elizabeth Line as they embody the very essence of the campaign – to bring the people of London together. It was an enormous pleasure to work with such a talented and diverse group of musicians to record Strauss’ Blue Danube, marking such an historic moment for London and its connectivity.”
