Cannes Lions Design shortlist revealed: Entries down for second year
Cannes Lions has unveiled the projects strong enough to be shortlisted in the Design category at this year’s awards. Despite a decrease in the number of entries from the previous year (977 down to 926), there has been an uptick in the number of shortlisted projects (70 up to 101), perhaps indicating an increase in the quality of entries.
Keeping to form, a huge number of entries to the 2024 Cannes Lions Design category failed to even be shortlisted (825). Under the guidance of jury president Fura Johannesdottir, chief creative officer at design and innovation firm Huge, jury members will now select from the shortlisted entries the projects they believe worthy of winning an award. Fewer than one in three of the shortlisted projects are expected to scoop up an award.
Categories of note to Transform readers include ‘Creation of a New Brand Identity’, ‘Rebrand/Refresh of an Existing Brand’ and ‘Wayfinding & Signage’, with previous Transform winners Design Bridge and Partners, Brunswick Group, Circana and AB InBev all making the shortlist.
All Design Lion winners are set to be revealed tomorrow (Tuesday 18 June). The full Cannes Design Lions shortlist may be viewed here.
