Design Effectiveness Awards sees record number of brand projects
The Design Business Association (DBA), the trade association for the UK design community, saw an unprecedented number of brand projects in its Design Effectiveness Awards.
The annual awards programme, celebrated this week at London’s British Museum, saw the coveted Grand Prix awarded to B&B Studio for its work with Mockingbird Raw Press. B&B studio created a premium tier within the smoothie market, helping Mockingbird become the UK’s fastest growing product within this sector.
The Design Effectiveness Awards, first established in 1989, has traditionally seen more packaging work in its roster of winners. This year saw at least 50% of gold, silver and bronze winners rewarded for their brand work. Amongst the other gold winners was White Bear for its work with Tom Parker Creamery, a winning relationship that spawned a number of top accolades in the Transform Awards and others over the past three years. Other brand agencies to scoop silver and bronze trophies included Biles Hendry (for its work with Burts), Everland (La Vie), GW&Co (Control Techniques), Magpie Studio (Plenish) and Osborne Pike (Danone).
This year’s Design Effectiveness awards was the closing event of the DBA’s inaugural Design Effect conference. As Deborah Dawson, the DBA CEO, said, “It was fantastic to bring together brands, agencies and design leaders from across the industry to explore design’s impact at the inaugural ‘The Design Effect’ conference this week. By celebrating the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards as an integral part of the day, the successes of the 2024 winners brought to life how design can create truly effective outcomes for business, people and planet.”
