England’s Science and Industry Museum unveils Operation Ouch! exhibition

The hit BBC TV show, which has been running for over a decade, partnered with the Science Museum Group to create an immersive, non-linear experience. The exhibition at Manchester’s Science and Industry Museum was developed by Kit Studio, which crafted the 2D concept for its visual identity and graphics, while Drinkall Dean was responsible for the 3D design.
Spanning across iconography, illusions, wallpapers and interactive assets, the experience aims to balance fun and science. The journey visitors take includes one room per sense, as well as ‘the brain HQ’.

Chris Bounds, creative partner at Kit Studio, says, “Balancing playfulness and science is at the heart of what the Science Museum Group and Operation Ouch! does, and so to be able to bring this thinking into the design – from signage to wallpapers, icons to labels – has been a great pleasure for the whole team.”
Hannah Clapham-Clark, project manager at the Science and Industry Museum, adds, “It’s been a joy to work on Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You for Science and Industry Museum with the BBC and Objective Media Group. The exhibition is a fun- filled romp through our senses and what makes our brains work, and I’d like to thank Drinkall Dean and Kit Studio for a beautiful design that really brings the science to life.”
The exhibition is set to last for a year at the Science and Industry Museum.
