Swedish icon SKF future-proofs brand for the digital age
The bearing and seal manufacturing company, founded in the city of Gothenburg in the early 1900s, has a fascinating history regarding its logo. Its original from 1908 is widely considered a pioneering example of corporate identity, and it remained highly similar throughout the next century. However, the time had come to update its identity for the digital era, which was undertaken by brand design agency NORD ID. SKF’s head of brand, Daniel Sjöstrand, explained that the move marked the company’s progression from having a static identity to “communicating constant development and innovation”.
